4th and 5th grade students at African Road Elementary represented over a dozen countries today to celebrate diversity. Students were encouraged to pick a country and research its government, culture, and background. Students were also encouraged to bring a dish as well as dress up from the country they researched.
“To see the pride that all of the children have when they explain their projects to us and their clothes the food, everything is just incredible to share.” Said Meghan Stenta, principal at African Road Elementary.
“We can all come together to celebrate those differences,” said Taleah Graham, a music teacher at the elementary school. “And they get to vote and everybody is participating and i think its just a great event to get a taste of what goes on in our school.”
African Road Elementary plans on having this event next year.
